Our Story – Blue Water Fish

Our Story

Blue Water Fish opened on Labor Day Weekend 2021 and regularly sells out its inventory of fresh local fish and take-out dishes specially prepared by owner Tom Infantolino.

Meet Tom. He's a second-generation restaurateur whose father founded the family business in 1972. Tom discovered his love of cooking at his father’s fish market when he was a young adult.

"I fell in love with cooking at my father’s Queens County fish market. I started off making three or four different items – homemade New England Clam Chowder, Traditional Fish and Chips with flounder and cod, and Lobster Roll. I used only the freshest fish that we would get right from the docks.

My dad and I never cut corners. We never let fish sit out for weeks like they do in the supermarket just to make a buck. Within a couple years there wasn’t enough room in my dad’s store for the number of dishes I was putting out.

After my dad retired, I dreamed of having my own place. Not in Queens where he had his market, but right here in Wading River where I have lived for 25 years. A near fatal car accident in 2019 made me realize it was time to make my dream come true. That’s how Blue Water Fish was born."

Tom's philosophy can be summed up as "I won't sell anything I wouldn't eat myself."

Blue Water Fish is really a labor of love. You really can’t appreciate it unless you come and try it. So, come on over to Blue Water Fish and enjoy some fresh local seafood and say hello. Tom's here most Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 am to 5 pm.
