Legend has it that in 1917 the recipe for clams casino was created at the Little Casino Hotel in Narragansett, Rhode Island, by maître d'hôtel Julius Keller. He perfected the recipe for Mrs. Paran Stevens, a wealthy woman who wanted an extra special dish for her guests. Mrs. Paran loved what Julius had created and named the dish after the Little Casino. Word spread and the popularity of Clams Casino has spread across the United States.
